How bars and restaurants are using murals to drive foot traffic

Instagrammable walls aren't a gimmick — they're a measurable marketing channel. Here's what works.
A striking, photo-friendly wall is one of the cheapest marketing assets a bar or restaurant can own. We surveyed eight of our bar and restaurant clients about the impact of their printed murals, and the results were remarkably consistent.
The pattern. Every venue reported that their mural wall shows up constantly in customer photos — Instagram stories, TikTok clips, Google review photos. One café owner told us she can trace spikes in first-time visitors directly to weekends when a local influencer posted in front of her wall. The mural didn't just decorate the space; it became the venue's most-shared piece of content, recreated daily by customers for free.
What works: a clear focal point. The best-performing walls give people an obvious place to stand. A centered graphic, a pair of wings, a neon-style logo, or a frame-like composition tells customers exactly where the photo happens. Walls that are beautiful but busy get admired; walls with a focal point get photographed.
What works: brand integration. The strongest murals carry the venue's name or logo in a way that reads clearly in photos — every shared image then advertises the brand, not just the wall. Printed murals make this easy: exact logo files, exact brand colors, rendered perfectly at any size.
What works: something worth talking about. Several clients added an interactive twist — a local landmark rendered in the venue's style, a witty slogan, or a design that changes how it reads up close versus from across the room. Conversation-starting walls get tagged more.
The economics. A printed feature wall typically costs less than a single month of paid social advertising, requires no ongoing spend, and keeps producing user-generated content for years. One restaurant group calculated their mural paid for itself in attributed new covers within the first quarter.
The practical side matters too: printed installs happen after hours with no paint fumes and no drying time, so venues lose zero trading days. When the brand refreshes, the wall can be reprinted just as quickly.
If your venue has a blank wall and a phone-wielding customer base, you may be sitting on your most underused marketing channel.
